As an international member organisation working to reduce the incidence and impact of meningitis worldwide, the Confederation of Meningitis Organisations believe that vaccines are a right for all generations.
That’s why, in August 2016, CoMO was happy to help promote Generations United’s Valuing Vaccinations across Generations (VVAG) awareness campaign.
VVAG’s lifespan approach tied in well with our Life Course Immunisation (LCI) Initiative, which included CoMO organizing a European parliamentary meeting in May 2016. We’re currently holding a Strategy Workshop to lay out an Action Plan to tackle meningitis worldwide.
CoMO, which founded in 2004, currently has 59 members across 29 countries. We work to support these members in their awareness raising, advocacy campaigning and lobbying for policy.
Our LCI started with the European parliament. We hope this will be replicated elsewhere in the near future.
With CoMO and Generations United’s raising awareness of vaccines for all generations, we were more than happy to utilise the digital materials from the online toolkit and #bandAGEofhonour hashtag in our social media plan.
We recognise the value Generations United places on intergenerational conversations and hope that the content of our social media posts also encourage our followers to engage in a discussion with all members of their families about which vaccinations are available to them.
The 24th April is World Meningitis Day, our campaign plans are already in full swing and we are sincerely grateful for the support of Generations United with this.
We hope that on this day, everyone, both young and older people alike will take a moment to talk about the symptoms of meningitis and how they can reduce the risks of it affecting their loved ones.
